本课程教学目的

大学英语是以外语教学理论为指导,以英语语言知识与应用技能,跨文化交际和学习策略为主要内容,并集多种教学模式和教学手段为一体的教学体系.大学英语的教学目标是培养学生的英语综合应用能力,使他们在今后学习,工作和社会交往中能用英语有效地进行交际,同时增强其自主学习能力,提高综合文化素养,以适应我国社会发展和国际交流的需要.由于语言既是符号系统(asystemofsymbols),也是交际工具(atoolformunication),既是思维工具(thedressofthought),也是文化载体(acarrierofculture),因此,大学英语教学的最终目的就是帮助学生打好语言基础,即在重视语言形式学习的同时,熟悉英语国家人的思维方式,借鉴和吸收英语文化精华,提高文化素质,培养学生的语言综合应用能力.大学英语基础阶段"综合英语"课程的教学则是达到上述目标的重要环节之一.

本课程教学对象

大学英语基础阶段的"综合英语"课程教学的对象为入学时已掌握了一定的英语语言语法知识,一定数量单词和读,听,写,说等方面受过初步训练的大学英语一,二年级本科生.大学英语教学分为基础阶段和高级阶段.基础阶段主要完成1-4级的教学任务,教学实践为1-2年级的四个学期:高级阶段主要完成大学英语拓展课程的教学任务,实践为3-4年级的前三个阶段.本课程主要针对基础阶段的大学英语学习者.

教学手段,原则与要求

"综合英语"课程采用多媒体大班课,充分应用先进的多媒体网络等现代教育技术,引入计算机多媒体教学和网络学习平台,采用全方位,立体化的多媒体教学手段,提高教学效率和学生的学习质量.坚持"厚语言基础,强综合应用能力,因人因材施教"的教学原则.由于我校大学英语的教学模式为2+X1+X2,即每两周2节大班"综合英语"课程,每周2节小班"口语"课程,另外,X2时数指学生根据自己的英语水平,学习进度和教师要求,随时随地上网提交书面读,写,译作业,参加论坛讨论,单元测试,强化听力和口语训练等内容,因此,在X2时段内,教师必须要求学生完成该单元的学习情况.X2部分的学习时间每周不得低于4小时.
