本课程主要介绍自古希腊罗马时期开始,至第二次世界大战之前的主要经济学说,以经济思想的历史变迁为主线.主要内容包括:古希腊罗马时期的经济思想,重商主义和重农主义,亚当·斯密确立的英国古典经济学体系,大卫·李嘉图的劳动价值论及其对古典经济学的发展,约翰·穆勒的综合体系,边际革命与边际学派,阿尔弗雷德·马歇尔的新古典经济学说,不完全竞争理论等.同时,本课程通过比较和归纳的方法,侧重于各种经济思想的传承与发展,适当讲授二战以后主流经济学理论的演变情况.本课程的成绩由平时成绩和期末书面考试成绩组成,考试的备选题型包括英文翻译题,辨析题,材料分析题和小论文.

MainContent:TheimportanceoftheHistoryofEconomicThought,asoneofthecorecoursesinthestudyofEconomics,isthatstudentscanconsolidatetheirunderstandingoftherelativelyabstracteconomictheoriesbytracingtheevolutionarycourseofeconomicthoughts.Thestudyofthiscourseinvolvesreadingofclassicalworksofeconomics,whichwillhelpthestudentsbetterunderstandhowcontemporaryeconomicsdevelopedandbettergraspthelogicsunderpinningthedevelopmentofeconomicthought,i.e.thebasicideasofthemajorschoolsofthoughtinhistory,themongroundvs.thedifferencesbetweentheseschoolsofthought,andhowoneschoolofthoughtisrelatedtopreviousones:furtherdevelopmentofideasand/orcriticalrevisions.Thestudywillleadtoacriticalinsightintothegistofideasfoundinmoderneconomictheories.
ThecoursecoversallthemajoreconomictheoriesbetweentheperiodofancientGrecianRepublicandRomanEmpiresandtheyearsprecedingthebreakoutofWWII.Itfollowsthehistoricalevolutionofeconomicthoughts,fromtheonesintheperiodofancientGrecianRepublicandRomanEmpire,Mercantilism,Physiocracy,ClassicalEconomicsfoundedbyAdamSmith,DavidRicardo'slabortheoryofvalueandhiscontributiontothefurtherdevelopmentofclassicaleconomics,JohnStuartMill'stheoreticsystem,marginalrevolutionandmarginalutilityschoolofeconomics,AlfredMarshal'sneo-classicaleconomictheories,imperfectpetition,etc.Inthemeantime,thiscoursewill,bymeansofparisonandinference,emphasizehoweconomictheoriesarerelatedtoeachother.Howmainstreameconomicthoughtsevolvedinpost-WWIIyearswillbetoucheduponinthiscourseaswell.Theevaluationofstudents'performancewilltakeintoaccounttheclassroomperformanceandscoresinfinaltest,whichincludestranslationofexcerptsfromclassics(inEnglish),TrueorFalsequestions,CaseAnalysisandmini-essay.
