Inthispaper,amathematicalmodelisestablishedtoevaluatetheUWBinterferencetoWCDMA,CDMA2000andTD-SCDMA.ComparisonandanalysisresultsonthemaximumacceptableUWB-devicedensityofdifferent3GsystemsaregivenwithrespecttoFCC,ETSIandJapanregulationsrespectively.

2.UWBInterferenceModel

SincethebasestationsaregenerallyinelevatedlocationsandtheUWBpropagationdistanceisveryshort,theUWBinterferenceeffectswillbefeltmainlyatthemobileterminal.Hence,weonlyconsidertheeffectsonthedownlink.WewillconsiderasituationinwhichUWBdevicesareusedindoorandnotactiveatalltimes.Theinterferenceeffectsaresimulatedwithrespecttoagivenactivityfactor.

2.1integralmodelofhollowSphericaldistribution

Fig.1showstheUWBinterferencemodelconsideredinthispaper.Inthisthreedimensionalmodel,ourvictimreceiver,the3Gmobileterminal,islocatedinthecenterofahollowspherewithradiusrminandrmax,andourjammers,theUWBdevices,areuniformlydistributedperunitvolumeoverthehollowsphere.TheprobabilitydensityfunctionoftheUWBtransmittersasafunctionoftheradiusrisexpressedby:
